FAQs
How does Kybella work?
Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps break down and absorb fat. When injected, it destroys fat cells, which are then naturally eliminated by your body.
Is there downtime?
Most clients experience mild swelling, redness, or tenderness for a few days. Bruising, numbness, or firmness in the area can also occur but usually resolves within 1–2 weeks. Most people can resume work and normal activities immediately.
How many treatments will I need?
Most clients need 2–4 treatments, spaced about 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the amount of fat under the chin and desired results. Your provider will create a personalized plan.
Do I need to constantly do this treatment to keep results?
No. Once fat cells are destroyed, they do not return. Long-term results are maintained as long as you maintain a stable weight.
When will I see results?
Some improvement may be noticeable after the first treatment, but final results usually appear 2–3 months after the last session, as your body gradually eliminates the treated fat cells.
Are there any side effects?
Common side effects include swelling, bruising, redness, numbness, or tenderness at the injection site. Rarely, asymmetry, difficulty swallowing, or nerve injury can occur. Your provider will review all potential risks before treatment.
Can I combine Kybella with other treatments?
Yes! Kybella can complement other aesthetic treatments like dermal fillers, Botox, or skin tightening procedures to enhance overall facial contour. Your provider will advise on safe timing between treatments.
Who is a good candidate for Kybella?
Ideal candidates have moderate submental fat (a double chin) and good skin elasticity. It’s not recommended for individuals with severe skin laxity or certain medical conditions. A consultation is required to determine suitability.
Does Kybella hurt after the treatment?
Most clients experience mild tenderness or soreness for a few days. Ice packs, over-the-counter pain relievers, and avoiding pressure can help ease discomfort.
